AC133またはPROML1としても知られるCD133は、プロミニンファミリーに属する120kDaの5回膜貫通型糖タンパク質です。CD34造血幹細胞や前駆細胞、神経幹細胞、内皮幹細胞などの初期細胞集団で主に発現しています。CD133はCD309 (KDRまたはVEGFR-2)と結合することで、内皮前駆細胞を特異的に検出します。CD133の機能は不明ですが、自然に発生した突然変異は罹患患者の網膜における変性疾患に関連しています。
